Lyric Theatre Singers Celebrate 25 Years of Musical Theatre Magic!

The Lyric Theatre Singers are thrilled to be presenting Back to Broadway, their 25th anniversary show, at Concordia University’s DB Clarke Theatre June 11, 12 and 13. This spirited Broadway revue, featuring 48 performers backed by six musicians, serves up some of the best and most beloved moments of Broadway past and present.

Back to Broadway, a collection of musical theatre gems cleverly selected to pack a punch by musical directors Bob Bachelor and Chris Barillaro, is an original revue with 37 songs from 26 composers and 21 shows guaranteed to wow audiences of all ages and musical tastes. Highlights from such hit shows as Chicago, the toe tapping Hairspray and the hilariously irreverent The Book of Mormon and The Producers will be featured alongside songs from Company, Catch Me If You Can, Finian’s Rainbow, Beauty and the Beast, Spring Awakening, and so much more. The creative team of Bachelor and Barillaro is completed by choreographer and long-time collaborator, Mary Sarli, as well as Cathy Burns, who shares the staging duties.

2015 means 25 YEARS for the Singers and a WHOPPING 50 YEARS for Lyric! A good reason to celebrate don’t you think?

We are currently planning a 2015 Lyric Alumni event designed to reunite as many past Lyric

important milestones. To do this we need to build a contact list of Book Show cast members as well
as past Lyric Singers – and we need your help!

Musical Director Bob Bachelor is always seeking new candidates interested in joining the Lyric Theatre Singers. Are you passionate about music, musical theatre, and Broadway? Do you LOVE to sing? Here’s your chance to be part of Montreal’s outstanding Broadway vocal ensemble! If you want to work with a group of multi-talented individuals who are passionate about performing to the maximum of their abilities, call or write us so we can include you on our auditions contact list. That way we can let you know when the next auditions are being scheduled!

We are seeking

We are looking for singers with good stage presence, reading music is not necessary although it is a welcome asset. Bilingual rehearsals take place from 7:30 to 10:00 PM in Montreal West. Additional information regarding the schedule will be provided. All you need is a good ear, a strong voice, the ability to memorize your music, commit to the rehearsal schedule and LOVE to sing! The annual fee for each member is $200.

What you need to audition:

  • Prepare a song, preferably from the Broadway repertoire
  • Bring the piano sheet music with you; a pianist will be there to accompany you
  • Please do not bring taped music
  • The music must be in the correct key because transposition will not be possible
  • Bring a photo, the size or style is not important, it will help us to remember you!
  • If you have one, please bring a copy of your artistic CV with your singing experience, in choirs or musicals.
